After working alongside his father for over a decade, Virgile Lignier took over the family domaine in 2000, but it wasn't until the last ten or so years that the numerous updates and modifications he's made to the family winery really started paying off. Now, with the gentle extraction one gets from temperature-controlled ferments, the freshness of utilizing whole clusters, and the seamless mouthfeel achieved by a more tempered use of new oak, Virgile's wines have reached new heights. As described in his cellars this past March, his 2020s are a result of an active yet zen-like outlook regarding the conditions in the vineyard. Virgile was more active than usual in the vineyards. The results are wines that are "generous but, not too much." Despite the heat of the vintage Virgile's wines maintained a freshness of fruits he describes as "Tres, tres, zen, et frais."
