Marsannay is the only location in Burgundy with the legal permission to produce a Burgundian rosé. Bruno Clair's rosé is the brainchild of Bruno's Grandfather, Joseph. Upon his return to the Domaine in 1919 after the war he made his first rosé from Pinot Noir in Marsannay. It was popular from the start. Sixty-eight years later Marsannay was granted AOC status (1987) for its rosé wines.
Three village level plots are used in this rosé, Les Roseys, Les Boivins, and Les Étalles. With an average age of 35 years old, this Pinot Noir shows high complexity along with the elegance inherent in wines made from the grape. Two-thirds of the harvest is allowed to rest on the skins for 24-72 hours.
