Patrice Rion began his Prémeaux-based production in 1990 and expanded in 2000 after leaving Domaine Daniel Rion. Alongside a small négociant operation to supplement his vineyard holdings, Rion produces small quantities of exquisitely focused wines from top sites. Lauded for his innovation in the cellar, Patrice Rion, along with his son Maxime, is a name one should know.
Premier Cru "Les Fuées" lies directly south of Les Bonnes Mares, and like that Grand Cru, Fuées gives off some of that "Morey wildness" alongside its Chambolle charm. Wonderfully fragrant with ethereal floral, spice, and fruit notes, Rion's 2012 "Les Fuées" is pure elegance with the structure of 18 months aging in 50% new oak.

"The 2012 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées from Patrice & Maxime Rion had a very small reduction on the nose, but there are clearly exquisite brambly red berry fruit here with fine mineralité and poise. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very suave and very harmonious. Yes, there is a touch of new oak that still needs to be absorbed, but the elegance and poise wins you over, especially the cashmere finish that is on offer. This is a gorgeous, almost lascivious Chambolle!"
