Since 1994 Elvio Cogno has dedicated itself to the cultivation and preservation of an ancient Piedmonte variety, Nascetta. Rescued from the brink of extinction, Cogno and a few friends discovered a gorgeously bright and intense white grape now known for its complex savory flavors and array of fruit. With both accessibility early on and great aging potential, Nascetta drinks like a vibrant Chardonnay with Condrieu-like body and depth.
Much to our delight the 2020 continues a series of high quality vintages. It is gorgeous. The 2020 vintage was harvested from the Cogno's 2ha vineyard at the end of September. The juice was mostly fermented in stainless steel with a small 30% portion fermented in 15hl Slavonian oak and aged afterwards inversely in 30% stainless and 70% in Slavonian oak before a six month rest in bottle prior to release. ts pleasant, fresh and balanced structure makes it ideal as an accompaniment to vegetable dishes, white meats, raw fish, oysters and creamy cheeses.
