The village Chassagne is made from plots on the southern and northern edges of Chassagne. On the south, the lieu-dit contribute to the wine's body or "power" as Alex describes it. They are below some of the 1er Crus on the south side. To the north, the wine's 'energy' or minerality is derived. Checking our vintage notes, this is usually the backbone of the Domaine's production. It routinely sees about 20% new oak.
Brothers Alex and Benoit Moreau have been running this impeccable Domaine (now named after their father) in Chassagne-Montrachet since the 1999 vintage. Benoit handles the vineyard work and Alex tackles the cellar work and winemaking. Their work and excellent vineyard sources has their family’s Domaine positioned as one of the best in Burgundy. Their Chardonnays are full of unique energy that reflects the vineyard source with aplomb. Their red wines are pure, sensual expressions of Pinot Noir's elegance.
