Matt has always had a place in the wine business via the restaurant business. Through high school Matt worked in restaurants on the weekends. Enjoying the energy of a full dining room and the creativity of the Chefs he worked with he decided to pursue an opportunity in 2003 at Charlie Trotter’s. It was while there that Matt began to hone his skills with wine. Working alongside the esteemed Sommeliers at Trotters who taught him the basics of food and wine pairing. Those skills would come in handy in 2005 when Chef Homaro Cantu offered him a chance to develop the wine program at Moto Restaurant in Chicago’s Meatpacking district. For the next 8 ½ years Matt shaped Moto’s wine program while simultaneously serving as the General Manager. Under his guidance the restaurant earned recognition from Food and Wine Magazine as his wine program was named as “Best Wine Experience in Chicago “ (May 2006). As well as earning exceptional service ratings from AAA, Zagat the restaurant earned its first Michelin Star in 2011. Matt accepted a position at Knightsbridge in November of 2013. He is looking forward to working with Knightsbridge’s outstanding inventory!
