The Colle Vota vineyard stands apart as a distinct and remarkable Montepulciano d’Abruzzo source. Showcasing its identity as a "Single Vineyard" offering, Tiberio separates themselves from the traditional methods of the region which call for the ‘best’ wine of a winery to be labeled as “Riserva.”
The grapes in the Colle Vota have always been distinct vis a vis their neighbors. They are a novel Montepulciano biotype emerging from a massal selection from the oldest vines of the winery. The berries are smaller, boasting crunchier and thicker skins. Moreover, the Montepulciano grapes from Colle Vota have a protracted maturation period, benefiting from the microclimate's extended hang time, culminating in the creation of an extraordinary wine. The Montepulciano from Colle Vota is characterized by being a notably perfumed and refined wine.
The harvest takes place by hand towards the end of October, and the fermentation employs indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation and aging occur within tanks, and the wine is ultimately bottled unfined and unfiltered. Afterward, it continues aging in the bottle before release. The wine itself boasts a brilliant light red ruby color and an intricate aromatic profile that includes notes of sage, cedar, cinnamon, and marzipan, alongside a mineral component. With a plush, silky texture and refined tannins, the wine culminates in a vibrant and energetic finish.
