Representing the very best of what Champagne Taittinger can produce this tete de cuvee, Comtes de Champagne, is only produced in exceptional years. It is always 100% Chardonnay from the most prestigious vineyards in the Cote des Blancs and features only the first press juice. While admirable, this is not necessarily unique for a tete de cuvee (a Champagne house's top Champagne). Taittinger differentiates itself by incorporating just a touch of oak treatment. Around 5% of the cuvee is aged in barrel for 3-4 months. Just that small bit adds so much to the nuance of the final blend.

This is a fantastic and refined Blanc de Blancs. So layered and complex, with lemon curd, chalk, hazelnuts, pastries, baked apples and almond croissants. Structured and tightly wound, with almost imperceptible bubbles. Delicious salty notes at the end. Beautiful. Drink or hold.
