Rizzi - Barbaresco Pajore 2019
Prior to his current role of winemaker, Enrico Dellapiana was a professional basketball player in the Italian league. We've fallen in love with the purity of fruit and dedication to terroir that owner/winemaker Enrico Dellapiana invokes in these special crus.
Almost directly south of the classic town of Barbaresco lie the classic rolling hills of Treiso, a land steeped in Piedmont history. The Rizzi estate, one of the largest and most interesting in the Barbaresco area, is comprised of 40 total hectares primarily in this famous Trieso zone. From elevations between 200m and 430m, twenty hectares of Nebbiolo produce elegant and sophisticated wines from the vineyard crus Rizzi (from which the Riserva Vigna Boito is also born), Pajoré, and Nervo.
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
The 2019 Barbaresco Pajoré has a hint of spice that comes across and freshly milled white pepper or dried ginger. Those more-lifted aromas cede to dried rose, violet, earth and blackcurrant. It feels especially silky and smooth on the long finish. This vintage offers special elegance. (ML)
