When Thibault Gagey and Jacques Lardière embarked on a survey of an established Oregon vineyard named Resonance nestled in the hills of the coast range near Carlton, they felt an immediate connection with the place. Retired winemaker Jacques, with 42 years leading Maison Louis Jadot, and Thibault, representing the family-operated Maison Louis Jadot since 1962, sensed an opportunity for a bold new project. With President Pierre-Henry Gagey's approval, they retained the vineyard's title and named their inaugural winery outside of Burgundy in its honor. Résonance, symbolizing hope for future greatness, underscores the profound connection between Oregon and France.
Their Willamette Valley Chardonnay, sourced from estate and top vineyards, celebrates the region's terroir with Maison Louis Jadot's finesse. This wine is part of a growing collection of outstanding Chardonnays from the Willamette Valley.
Wine Advocate: 94-96 Points
Still in barrel, the 2021 Chardonnay Willamette Valley is the first iteration of this wine from Résonance, made from both estate and purchased fruit. The nose opens with streaks of matchstick and crushed almonds that give way to a deep core of yellow apple, jasmine and touches of cream and butter. The medium-bodied palate is satiny and expansive with savory layers energized by focused acidity, and it has a long, textural finish with alluring floral perfume. (10/19/23)
