The Pierre Péters estate, nestled in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, has been crafting Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagnes since 1919. Now led by Rodolphe Péters, the family-run house has reached new heights of recognition, celebrated for its dedication to expressing the chalky soils of its exceptional terroirs. With 19 hectares of Chardonnay vineyards across Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, and Cramant, the estate embodies the richness, elegance, and subtlety of the Côte des Blancs.
Among the estate’s offerings, Les Montjolys stands out. Sourced from the unique clay-rich terroir of "Le Montjoly" in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the cuvée is crafted from seven distinct parcels, vinified separately to highlight their individuality. Partial malolactic fermentation and a sharp selection of only the best juices result in a Champagne of remarkable finesse. Aged for six years on the lees, it harmonizes an ethereal nose with a vibrant palate of fullness, resonance, and striking minerality. With a precise dosage of 3.5 to 4.5 g/L, Les Montjolys is a definitive expression of Pierre Péters’ expertise and the unique character of this extraordinary terroir.
James Suckling: 97 Points
Leaner and very minerally with sliced apple and pear, as well as hints of brioche and pie crust. Lemon undertones. Medium-bodied and racy, with slate, kerosene and spicy undertones. It goes on and on, but maintains delicacy and form. 6 years on lees and disgorged October 2023. 4g/L dosage. Drink now.
