Champagne Pierre Moncuit is one of the few houses that can take great advantage of the terroir in Les Mesnil sur Oger. This village, the entirety which is rated Grand Cru, is a special pocket of Champenoise terroir that is ideally suited for top Chardonnay. Despite a rich familial history of grape frowing the estate as it is now was only realized in the 1950s when Pierre began to bottle the fruit of his labor. Since 1977 his daughter, Nicole Moncuit has been in charge of the production.
For this cuvée, the grapes are exclusively from Les Mesnil sur Oger from vines that average 30 years of age. The fermentation occurs in stainless steel where they age prior to bottling. They remain sur lee in bottle for 36 months, three times the time required for NV Champagne (12mo). Low dosage (7g/l) allows the chalky terroir to play a prominent role in this Champagne.
