So rarely do we as retailers get the chance to offer Syrah within its prime drinking window. No cellar time needed here (though of course as you wish). And not just any Syrah, but Syrah from that hallowed granite mound itself, Hermitage.
'La Chapelle' is Jaboulet's iconic wine named for the small chapel of St. Christophe. Over the decades, the wine has faced immense fame, and historic reputation. The 1991 is now hauntingly savory with all the spice box, cured meat, sensual smokiness one could desire, enrobed in that soft whisper of Syrah's red and black fruit only age can offer.
James Suckling: 96 Points
Who says that 1991 was only outstanding for Côte-Rôtie? All about finesse and beauty. Full body with super-fine tannins and a superb length and finesse. The finish goes on for minutes with sous bois, Cameroon black pepper cloves and dried meat. Florals. Really subtle and intense.
