For those in search of complex and intense minerality in their white wines, there may be no better option in the world than the cepas vellas "old vine" Albariño bottled by Do Ferreiro.
Sourced from the Meaño vineyard, a 1.5ha single vineyard in the Val do Salnes; one of Rias Baixas' northern sub-districts. The vineyard is world famous for the quality of Albariño grown within. No doubt it is a superb site but it is also unique for the age of its vines. Planted in 1785 these vines are surely amongst some of the oldest on the planet. The vines reward in the glass with intensity and complexity unique to this wine.
In order to best show the terrific terroir, the grapes are hand harvested and then fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel followed by an 11mo period on the lees (without stirring). We are thrilled to present a limited quantity of two vintages.
