Family owned Domaine Michel Noëllat, has been operating since its founding by Félix Noëllat, five generations ago. Since 2012, viticulture and winemaking responsibilities have been entrusted to Sébastien Noëllat, while the commercial aspect is managed by his cousin Sophie. For years, this domaine has kept their wine in the European market but since Sophie and Sébastien have taken charge in unison with the rise in quality of their wines they have decided to enter the U.S. market with their 2020s. Michel Noëllat cultivates 20 hectares (49 acres) and over 20 climats. Most are in prestigious locations near the heart of the Domaine, Vosne-Romanée. One of two Grand Crus they make is featured, the Clos de Vougeot. Plus there are 8 premier crus exploited by the Domaine. Two of their most prominent are highlighted in this offer, "Boudots" in Nuits Saint Georges and "Les Beaux Monts" in Vosne-Romanée.
Their reds are de-stemmed then a three-day maceration follows. Then fermentation is in closed tanks. Regular pumping over and puncturing of the cap occur four to five times during vinification. The wines age in French oak barrels, with 30-50% being new barrels. Bottling takes place after 15 to 18 months of aging.
The winery's style emerges with aromas of macerated cherries, kirsch, and fresh red fruits. Tannins are concentrated yet suave, while the palate shows rich, smooth textures and freshness.
