Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît, the eighth generation to farm this 13ha domaine, continue their family's legacy of crafting some of the most serious, longest-lived wines in all of Beaujolais. The majority of their vines are on the Côte du Py in the center of Morgon. If there were a vineyard classification in Morgon, Côte du Py would be premier cru, and Javerniéres would most definitely be a grand cru. Both located on the best exposition of the hill with decomposed schist soil, Javerniéres is a small plot within the Côte du Py with a touch more clay, producing a more powerful wine.
Look no more if in search of the glories of aged Beaujolais. All berry fruit, both black and red, in its youth, the Javerniéres will age into a more earthy, velvety wine with cocoa and coffee tones. A win/win wine!
Wine Advocate: 94 Points
"The 2020 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, spices, rose petals, loamy soil and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with impressive reserves of ripe tannin and sapid fruit, it's seamless and lively, concluding with a long, resonant finish. As ever, this is built to age, and it will reward patience, even if its youthful charms are considerable."
