San Giovanni Estate, makes from its San Antonio parcel of old vines, a refined wine blend consisting of 50% Sangiovese, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot. This elegant 2021 vintage has a miniscule production of just 1,050 cases. Tasting just in August this was a vibrant and open Super Tuscan that was very aromatic and redolent of red fruits.
La Caccia Estate, whose name means "the hunt" in Italian, is steeped in history dating back to the 900s! San Giovanni was once a part of an overarching estate of 1,700 hectares (4,200 acres) of land, historically used for farming and hunting. In the 1800s they were divided into 31 farms in the 1800s on of which caught Dean’s attention when he had the opportunity to renovate the Castello di Casole which was at the center of the once massive estate. The a 54-hectare (133-acre) estate with 8 hectares (20 acres) dedicated to organic vineyards and olive groves stood out for its unique soil composition and picturesque views. It would become San Giovanni. Organic itself the estate bounds an expansive natural hunting preserve.
