In 1992, Jean-Yves Devevey founded his estate on a small vineyard in Burgundy's regional appellations. Drawing on five years of experience with renowned Burgundian winegrowers and inspired by Becky Wasserman's universal approach to wine, he gradually developed his estate with a focus on quality craftsmanship. The estate, located in Demigny, a small village due east of Chassagne-Montrachet, Jean-Yves cultivates 7.5 hectares of vines across Rully, Beaune, Volnay, and the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, adhering to organic viticulture since 2003 and earning certification in 2014. The vineyards have been managed according to biodynamic principles, with a commitment to fostering biological diversity in each plot. These practices are fundamental to producing wines that reflect their esteemed reputation.
Pertuisots is a 0.51-hectare vineyard planted with Pinot Noir, featuring vines from 1954 and 1988. Located in the southern part of the Battaut valley's cone of dejection, the vineyard sits on clay-limestone soil. The name "Pertuisots" comes from an old French and Provençal word meaning "sloping ledge." The domaine acquired this organic vineyard in 1999, which is densely planted with 11,000 vines per hectare. Vinification includes some whole-cluster pressing and 18 months of aging in older oak barrels, producing approximately 170 cases annually.
