Ehren Jordan, owner and winemaker at Failla wines is, in our opinion, one of the finest winemakers on the planet. His Pinot Noirs are some of the most elegant, purest expressions we've ever come across.
Ehren’s style is one of elegance and purity. As he puts it the mission is to create wines that make you salivate. They have lively acidity and a fruit profile that doesn’t dominate or seem over done yet is always noticable. He accomplishes this style by working with truly cold climate vineyards with strong marine influences. Hello Sonoma Coast! His initial vineyard was near Marcassin in what is now considered the ‘true’ Sonoma Coast, the Fort-Ross Seaview AVA. Elevation also helps. By keeping his grapes above the fog line but close to the sea he captures the cool acidity preserving temperatures while simultaneously gaining critical sunshine to ripen. Lola is a blend of vineyard sources from Fort-Ross Seaview and another in the Petaluma Gap. Only 15% of the wine receives new oak so as to not overwhelm the wine’s beautiful fruit. Ehren himself recommends drinking this wine with sushi! No doubt it’s high acidity would be beneficial to a pairing like this.
