Donnhoff - Riesling 2021
The 2021 vintage marked a return to ‘classic’ vintage conditions. Cornelous Donnhoff said that “After the last four warm years, this vintage is after a long time again a “classic German year” – accompanied by many challenges and hard work, but with a satisfying end.The 2021 vintage promises very clear, filigree wines with an extraordinary inner density and a wonderfully finesse-rich acidity.”
This Riesling comes from Donnhoff’s vineyards in the middle of the Nahe. These sites are mostly of volcanic origin and feature vines up to 30 years old. There’s just a touch of sweetness to this wine and incredible freshness; it was all fermented and matured in stainless steel.
Despite the challenges of this long harvest (pushed into November for some) on many fronts the 2021 vintage will go down as a success for the Dönnhoffs. As Cornelous tells us the 2021's will wow now and will certainly repay anyone patient enough to keep them in their cellars.
