93-95 Points Jasper Morris:
Tasted from a 600 litre barrel. Planted 1902. A beautiful ruby purple. The bouquet is exquisite with a perfumed deep red fruit to rival the best of the Côte de Nuits. Complete on so many levels, not just depth of fruit but the structure of the tannins and a little dark pepper too at the finish. Grand Vin. Drink from 2028-2036.
Wine Advocate: 92-94 Points
The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode was also still quite primary and unevolved when I tasted it from barrel, unwinding in the glass with notes of cherries, berries, licorice and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a chassis of sweet, powdery tannin, it's built for the cellar. (WK)
Neal Martin: 92-94 Points
The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru was taken directly from demi-muids, though it is raised in regular barrels, too. The nose has wonderful delineation and purity: redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, elegant and poised with judicious oak use. The palate is medium-bodied with fine structure and grip. The 20% whole bunches is less than others due to the natural pH, a wise decision as the finish maintains tension. A gem.
Burghound: 90-93 Points
Note: from a 1.7 ha parcel of vines planted in 1902. A deft dollop of wood easily allows the spicy dark berry fruit aromas to shine. Like many of the wines in the range, the medium-bodied flavors are compact and powerful with fine mid-palate density and minerality where the latter adds a sense of lift to the dusty, serious and built-to-age finale. Patience again strongly advised.*Burghound Top Value!*
