The Cain Vineyard comprises of 90 acres of the property's 550 acres total. It contains a wide array of aspects and is comprised of largely sedimentary soils (unique for the Napa Valley). Bay laurel and tar weed grow in abundance around it and one can't help but notice that those savory aromas are an awful lot like some of the savory aromas present in a glass of Cain Five.
A concept that many who are familiar with fine wine will understand is that fine wine, like those made at Cain, are a representation of a place first, they are not defined solely by a blend of grapes. What is applied in the vineyards and cellars at Cain does not translate to their neighbors or those in the valley. Cain is not unique in that philosophy but they are unique in what they produce; a savory wine that evokes emotion, connects us to a place, engages our senses, and connects us to the dirt.
