Though we'd loved Anne-Sophie's wines long before, our January 2020 visit solidified the adoration. Her home and winery sit right in the middle of her eight-hectares of vines on the hill of Labourons. Somewhat isolated [read: protected] from neighboring vines, she's free to operate organically and worry-free of outside influence, which is good, as Anne-Sophie is painstakingly meticulous and driven by her need for clean fruit.
While she's been deemed the most "Burgundian" of Beaujolais vintners, bottling beautiful vin de garde wines, "Les Cocottes", which she's been making since 2015, is a nod to tradition: fermented whole cluster, bottled the spring after harvest, and crafted for earlier accessibility. The resulting wine is a delicious, juicy Fleurie with the trademark Dubois nuance and backbone.
