A recent tasting of single malt spirits garnered one standout for its quality and value, The GlenAllachie 12yr Speyside Single Malt. The distillery, built in 1967, laid in obscurity for some time until it was purchased in 2017. The new owners stepped away from corporate life choosing instead to focus on important things, like making great whisky.
The Speyside 12yr was aged in sherry casks and finished in ex-bourbon barrels. The Scotch tastes of orange zest, honey, with strong mocha notes, cinnamon and aromas of raisins, butterscotch and caramel. Tasting it was a revelation. Then we saw the very attractive pricing which made this a no brainer to add to our shelves. This is the perfect Scotch for entertaining.
